Introduction:

This project is a result of the need identified in second grades students of Gimnasio Fontana to increase levels in all the four language skills in English. In order to enhance this, as well as work in line with both the Spanish-English bilingualism mission of the school and specific learning objectives of each subject area involved in the Integrated Project throughout this academic year (from August 2011 to end of June 2012), 2^nd Grade teachers, contacted the International Bilingual School in Hshinchu (Taipei, Taiwan), a school with high achieving students, in the hope of initiating a trial communications program. The 1^st contact was made in November 2011 and emails have been exchanged since then with the hope that both schools will find a way to merge both learning objectives. In April 2012, both schools took steps towards the commencement of the project activities discussed.

For Gimnasio Fontana, specific and general objectives are as indicated below:

General Objectives:

·Promote respect for diversity andmulticulturalismideology, religion and ethnicity.

·Develop a project that integrates languages, science, ethicsand the arts to increase students´ thirst for knowledge and creativity.

·Promote Spanish-English bilingualism towards building an internationally competent student.

Specific objectives

• Increase 4 skill areas in the English Language, especially writing and speaking.
• Widen knowledge and appreciation of different cultures and ethnic groups.
• Enhance the use and knowledge of current information and communication technology and compare it to what existed in the past
