COLOMBIAN CUISINE -
Ajiaco is the typical dish from Bogotá, Colombia. It is a potato soup typically served with chicken, rice, avacado, heavy cream, and capers. The climate in Bogotá is cold, so the hot soup helps keep the people warm. Also, potatoes are readily available in the cold climate around Bogotá.

The students of Gimnasio Fontana joined their Chef to help teach our friends in Taipei how to prepare this delicious staple of Colombian Cuisine. Please enjoy the video.

FUN BOGOTA – “BOGOTA DIVERTIDO
On Thursday 20th April 2012, the 2ABC students went on a field trip dubbed “BOGOTA DIVERTIDO” as part of their integrated project, with the main objective of developing their own hypothesis as well as conclusions on how the city has been constructed around its natural environment. They therefore explored the “Parque Simón Bolívar”, a natural environment with special modifications for the enjoyment of the urban population, where they also had the opportunity to play as well as the “Biblioteca Virgilio Barco” where appreciation for the city’s architecture was expanded to broaden knowledge of geometric concepts, especially since it was designed by the same architect of the school. In this location, students also took a guided tour, where categorization, services membership processes were explained to the students. Being the bookworms, that they are, the students took the time to do some quick reading in the children’s library whilst others worked on the computers. In the “Museo de los niños” students reviewed lessons learned about natural resources, in this case petroleum, its origins, uses and processes of through a simulated experience. They also had the opportunity to gain more insight about systems of transportation in the city and traffic signals. Another simulated air flight over the city gave them an increased idea about location as learned in Social Studies. Overall it was a fun day out and another opportunity for students to experience theoretical basis in real life situations.
